You pick the type on the first screen of the Event Wizard, and it decides which parts of the form you see.

• Meet - a competition. You get competition levels, team groups, petitions and alternates, and everything else.
• Camp/Clinic - a training event. Set up like a meet but usually with simple levels or none at all.
• Dues/Fees - collecting money from your own members rather than running a competition.
• Tickets - admission tickets only. The whole competition half of the form is hidden, because there is nothing to compete in. You define what you are selling under Purchasable Items and Event Tickets.

A Tickets event never has competition levels, even if you copy it from a meet. That is deliberate.
